Barefoot Landing, North Myrtle Beach’s Waterway center’s annual SummerFest! will begin on June 1 and last through Aug. 29. Entertainment includes a new line up of local musicians, as well as some returning favorites. Nick Pike, a semi-finalist from “America’s Got Talent” will return for his seventh year with a unique style of juggling, comedy and unicycling. A crowd favorite from England, Nick uses high energy music and comedy to get the whole audience involved. He will be performing every Monday, Tuesday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Also returning from last year is Kids Karaoke with Larry Tanelli. Every Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m, kids will have a chance to showcase their talents. Stilt walkers, living statues and face painting will be on site throughout the week as well. Some new faces joining the cast of SummerFest! include acoustic musicians Justin Hoke on Friday nights from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.; steel drummer Tim Peterman, Tuesday and Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.; and Don Colton playing smooth jazz tunes on the saxophone on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. On Saturdays, The Character Company’s Super Heroes will meet and greet the kids from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and on Sunday, Princesses from a variety of children’s stories will be on hand from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. During SummerFest! Families will be able to enjoy Barefoot Landing’s fireworks shows on Mondays at 10:15 p.m.

After a day at the beach, see Brookgreen Gardens in the cool of the evening when the gardens remain open until 9 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from June 10 – August 7. Enjoy outdoor concerts, evening boat rides, and special programs just for kids. Entertainment and programs are included in garden admission. Pontoon boat rides are available all three evenings (at an additional fee) with a special Pirate-themed boat ride on Thursdays. Entertainment for the week of June 10 -12 is: June 10 – Tammy’s Tangent. From Little River, SC, this band’s power-house vocals, great guitar riffs and an outrageous rhythm section are their signature. The strong harmonies and a song list that has incredible variety complete the package! An evening sure to delight everyone. June 11 – Family Night. 5:00 p.m. Evening Bed Check with the Animals – Join Zoo staff and volunteers for an end-of-day special tour of the zoo. Some of the animals may even get one final treat for the day! This will be a fun way to see how the animals are checked and cared for as night time approaches. 6:00 pm Story Time in the “Enchanted Storybook Forest” – Each week, storyteller Donna Catton-Johnson will bring classic and some new stories to enchant our young audiences. She may even arrive as a character from one of her stories to surprise and interact with the kids. 5:00, 6:00 & 7:00 p.m. Special Creek Excursion: A Pirate’s Journey Along The Creeks – Ahoy, mateys! Come aboard and journey back in time to the exciting days when colorful pirates traveled through our Carolina waterways. Discover how to be an adventurous pirate, and find out about famous Carolina pirates like Blackbeard and Anne Bonny. Travel down the Brookgreen Gardens creeks as you follow a treasure map to the hidden treasure. Arrrgh!… Don’t be a landlubber and miss the boat! See you on board! (Regular Creek Excursion tickets required. $8 adults, $4 children. Same day purchase only at Wall Lowcountry Center). June 12 – Javier Vega Jazz Project. Javier Jazz Project is composed of exceptionally gifted musicians who focus on the melodic side of jazz; the trio can also play the kind of blues that will make you want to dance. The group is composed of Ray Mallach on keyboard, Dean Carbone on Vibraphone, and led by trumpeter Javier Vega. On Wednesday and Friday evenings, the Pavilion Restaurant serves dinner until 8 p.m. and desserts and beverage are available for purchase on the Pavilion Patio during the concerts. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to Wednesday and Friday performances. The Lowcountry Trail, the Zoo, Butterfly House, and Enchanted Storybook Forest close at 7 p.m.
